Welcome to DIY Home & Health
Hi there! My name is Alicia Lawrence and I’m the effervescent wit behind DIY Home & Health. Growing up I was very fortunate to be surrounded by family that was all for healthy living and DIY home improvements.
I was born and raised in Alaska but now reside in Pennsylvania with my husband, who’s an assistant director and performance coach for Power Train. I work at WebpageFX, an Internet marketing agency and the best place to work in PA, doing content marketing and online public relations. Besides blogging, I also do princess parties for little kids.
Besides my reviews, ramblings and recommendations, you’ll also find both my sisters writing on this blog.
Jaimè Bell is a juggler of roles: a mother of a toddler – entertainer and cleaner upper extraordinaire; foodie – tea enthusiastic and burgeoning health nut; high school English teacher – critical thinker, questioner, and purveyor of inspiration; extreme DIY-er – building our home (with my hubby of course ), painting pictures and crafting home decor, finding deals and inexpensive ways to spruce up any occasion or wardrobe.
So when she isn’t super exhausted from a toddler all-nighter or swamped in grading essays on Lord of the Flies, she is constantly looking for ways to “live deep and suck the marrow out of life” as Thoreau eloquently puts it. She hopes to inspire her students and others to do the same.
From a young age Katrina Whitecavage explored to the far corners of the earth through books, which were her constant companions. In 2006, Katrina was offered the rare opportunity of an all expenses paid yearlong exchange to Germany funded by the US Congress and the German Bundestag. Katrina jumped on the offer and without knowing more than a handful of German, left not only her home but also her country. Germany radically widened Katrina’s perspective of life, leading to two more semester exchanges in China and Israel. Katrina also participated in Model United Nations, winning several top awards both regionally and nationally. After graduating Summa Cum Laude from Cedarville University with a degree in international relations, Katrina taught oral English at Sias University in Xinzheng, China.
Besides traveling, Katrina enjoys healthy living and fitness, especially cycling. Now that she’s returned from China, she plans to follow her curiosity in living a healthy and adventurous life.
