About Us

Welcome to DIY Home & Health

alicia lawrence - healthy living blogHi there! My name is Alicia Lawrence and I’m the effervescent wit behind DIY Home & Health. Growing up I was very fortunate to be surrounded by family that was all for healthy living and home improvement. While I started this blog as an easier way to share my healthy recipes and DIY projects, it has morphed into something else–a place to learn how to be an adult. There is a tremendous knowledge gap in most young adults on how to actually live successfully. So this blog is my granular recordings of how to live, or in popular terms “adulting“.

Throughout this blog, you’ll find massive adulting guides on how to buy a home, how to handle your finances and what a healthy life looks like. Since these guides take a long time to put together, I tend to post sparingly so make sure you sign up for my newsletter so I can notify you when they go live.

I write from personal experience and I’m constantly reading and searching out experts who are willing to share their knowledge on areas that every adult should eventually know how to do. If you are an expert or a reader and would like to get in contact with me, please email me at diyhomehealth@gmail.com.

I was born and raised in Alaska but now reside in Pennsylvania with my husband, who’s the fitness director at a YMCA. I work at WebpageFX, an Internet marketing agency and the best place to work in PA, doing content marketing and online public relations.

Where Alicia works

Besides blogging, I am also a child entertainer at events and birthday parties (learn more about this by emailing paprincessparty[at]gmail[dot]com)

princess parties in harrisburg, mechanicsburg, camp hill, and lykens valley

Besides my reviews, ramblings and recommendations, you’ll also find my sister’s writing on this blog.

602370_4955522045072_700346078_nJaimè Bell is a juggler of roles: a mother of a toddler – entertainer and cleaner upper extraordinaire; foodie – tea enthusiastic and burgeoning health nut; high school English teacher – critical thinker, questioner, and purveyor of inspiration; extreme DIY-er – building our home (with my hubby of course- see pictures above from earlier on in the building process), painting pictures and crafting home decor, finding deals and inexpensive ways to spruce up any occasion or wardrobe.

So when she isn’t super exhausted from a toddler all-nighter or swamped in grading essays on Lord of the Flies, she is constantly looking for ways to “live deep and suck the marrow out of life” as Thoreau eloquently puts it. She hopes to inspire her students and others to do the same.
